What do you think made Ireland so successful in the 90s?

Hello! Gosh, it’s been a while since I posted here! Hope everyone here is okay and thus far enjoying the (very dramatic) off season. I’m currently nursing a pretty nasty ear infection so I’ve been spoiling myself with some yesteryear Eurovision all evening. I just watched Dublin 1994 which is probably one of my favourite shows of all time; the presenters, the stage, Ireland’s 3rd straight victory and of course, Riverdance.

I’m just wondering what everyone here made/makes of Ireland’s domination in the 90s? Victories in 92, 93, 94 and 96 – some at the time seemed to think it was boring. Others, like me, think that it was an incredibly special and extremely important time in Ireland’s history. I absolutely loved (and still do) both of Brendan Graham’s wining songs, and Niamh Kavanagh and Linda Martin are both Eurovision legends. What a hallowed time and such great memories! 🇮🇪💚
