FRANCE
Song: “Ce Monde”
Performer: Lou Deleuze
For France’s entry this year, they internally selected 11 year-old Lou Deleuze who has had a career in singing and acting since she was 7. Her song, which the title means ‘This World,’ is about how she will be strong and optimistic in pursuing her future, despite how cruel the real world will try to be. The future looks harsh and nasty but she will approach it with hope. Listing to the song and watching the video, I can already sense hints of Barbara Pravi and La Zarra in her. Even a hint of Louane. The song aims to be a more classical-sounding ballad. The lyrics are both dramatic with a growing optimism and she projects it very well in her voice. You can sense the feeling of hope as she sings. I have found this song to be an excellent song and it grows on me every time I listen to it. Also this song often appears to relate to last year’s slogan ‘Let’s Bloom’ more than last year’s entries!
JESC Chances:
It’s something how with France’s eight previous participations, they’ve had three wins and their lowest finish ever is sixth! I am already anticipating this song to clinch yet another great finish. I can see this song charming a lot of people. Even last year as we’ve often seen how ballads have not often had high finishes, last year had two ballads in the Online Voting Top 3. She can do it again here but she will have to be on with her vocals during the Contest. We have not yet been given any details about her staging. That will make or break its winning chances and we’ll have to see as we get closer to the big day.
