According to information obtained by Expressen, Swedish pop star Robin Bengtsson is set to make his return to Melodifestivalen next year. If confirmed, it will mark the artist’s fifth appearance in Sweden’s biggest music competition — and he will reportedly face strong competition from acts such as Medina and Greczula.
Bengtsson is no stranger to the Melodifestivalen stage. He made his debut in 2016, advancing straight to the final, and returned the following year with “I Can’t Go On” — a performance that went on to win the entire contest. Representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Bengtsson achieved an impressive fifth place in the grand final, cementing his status as one of the country’s most successful recent entrants.
The singer continued his strong run in later editions, reaching the final again in both 2020 and 2021. Despite his proven track record, Bengtsson’s 2024 entry was reportedly turned down by the Melodifestivalen selection committee. Instead, he appeared on stage as a backing vocalist for Erik Segerstedt’s “Show Me What Love Is” in last year’s final.
If the reports are true, fans can look forward to seeing the seasoned performer return to compete for another shot at representing Sweden on the Eurovision stage — almost a decade after his first appearance in the national selection.
